Enhance your profile: The 15 minute Nose Job for instant balance and proportion.

What Is a Non-Surgical Nose Job?

A non-Surgical Nose Job (otherwise known as an Injection Rhinoplasty) involves the injection of Hyaluronic Acid-based Dermal Fillers (Skin Fillers) to transform the appearance of the nose. When a Dermal Fillers specialist, such as Dr. Jugenburg, performs the procedure, it is safe and effective, and can achieve natural, long-lasting results.

If you want to improve the profile of your nose, but do not want to undergo surgery, do not have much time to spare, and wish to see results almost immediately, a non-Surgical Nose Job performed by Dr. Jugenburg at the Toronto Cosmetic Surgery Institute may address your needs. Dr. Jugenburg is highly experienced and skilled in using Dermal Fillers to artistically create volume, shape, symmetry and proportion in the face where none existed before.

What is Hyaluronic Acid?

Youthful skin is naturally rich in Hyaluronic Acid, a substance that binds water, thereby giving it volume, hydrating the skin, and promoting the softness and fullness of the face. As we age, the Hyaluronic Acid has a weaker effect, leading to a loss of volume and facial wrinkles.

Used widely in general medicine, over 30 million people have been treated with Hyaluronic Acid worldwide. When injected, the Hyaluronic Acid is eventually absorbed and broken down by the body. Results therefore last from 3 months in very mobile areas, such as the lips, up to a year in regions, such as the nose or cheeks.

Your Dermal Filler Options

Many options are available in Dermal Fillers, with clinical differences being predominantly governed by how long the effects last, whether the filler can be used to create body or structure, and how the filler feels. The various types of Hyaluronic Acid-based Dermal Fillers differ in terms of consistency (thickness), durability and cost, with softer fillers being more suitable for a volume enhancement in areas such as the lips, and more cohesive fillers for building structure, shape and volume elsewhere in the face.

At the Toronto Cosmetic Institute, we use only the latest brands of Hyaluronic Acid Fillers to give softer, more natural results and cause less discomfort and bruising to our patients. During your consultation, Dr. Jugenburg will recommend which of the brands (e.g., Juvederm®, Voluma®, Teosyal®, Restylane® or Perlane®) will be most suited to your specific needs. All Dermal Fillers we use contain non-animal derived Hyaluronic Acid; and are Health Canada approved, safe and effective. Once injected, these substances will immediately smooth, shape, and enhance the appearance of the nose.

Benefits of Hyaluronic Acid-based Fillers:
  • Proven safe and effective – approved by Health Canada
  • Provides instant improvement to treated areas
  • Quick and easy procedure (takes less than 15 minutes) – there is no downtime
    Natural results
  • Soft, moldable compound that can be shaped to fit any contour
  • Temporary effects (the product is biodegradable) that enable you to test how reshaping your nose could help enhance your facial appearance
  • The results can be easily corrected if you are unsatisfied with the results

Aesthetic Benefits of a Non-Surgical Nose Job

Dermal Fillers are a safe and natural way to improve the definition, size and shape of your nose for a more balanced and enhanced appearance. Besides creating the nose you have always wanted, treatment can also improve the signs of aging by addressing a drooping tip.

  • A small nose can be built up to better suit the face
  • A nose that appears moderately hook-like can be straightened
  • A nose with bumps can be reshaped and smoothed
  • A dip or trough to the nose can be filled in
  • The bridge of the nose can be built up to create more height and better definition
  • Slight refinement can be made to the nose following a surgical procedure
  • Asymmetry of the nose can be improved, smoothing out irregularities in the contours
  • A particularly rounded tip can be reshaped to compliment the facial features

Should You Consider A Nose Job?

Dermal Fillers offer a good alternative for patients who wish to add subtle enhancements to a previous Nose Job surgery (Rhinoplasty), those who are considering revision surgery, or those who want to test how reshaping could affect their appearance before committing to surgery. Whatever your reasons, a non-Surgical Nose Job can lead to a considerable improvement of the following concerns regarding the appearance of your nose:

  • A drooping tip or hooked nose (perhaps caused by aging)
  • A small nose or tip
  • A rounded or bulbous tip
  • An uneven (bumpy) or misshapen bridge
  • A low or flat bridge
  • Moderate crookedness of the nose
  • Indentations or irregularities of the nose
  • Moderate asymmetry in the position of the nose

If any of these concern affect you, you may be an ideal candidate for treatment at the Toronto Cosmetic Surgery Institute: However, any concerns related to your nose being too big cannot be addressed with this procedure, nor can breathing problems or internal defects, such as a deviated septum.

Non-Surgical vs. Traditional Nose Job Surgery

Some patients may benefit more from a Surgical Nose Job (Rhinoplasty). Dr. Jugenburg will offer suggestions during your consultation if a more permanent solution would be of greater benefit and will outline the likely outcomes and improvements that can be achieved with the different approaches.

Risks

A Surgical (or traditional) Nose Job require the use of general anesthesia and incisions, and therefore carries the risks associated with anesthesia complications, infections, scarring, long recovery and lay-off from work, and unwanted or unexpected cosmetic results. Whereas, a non-Surgical Nose Job does not require general anesthesia and avoids the risks of surgery. The procedure is also much more precise than a surgical Nose Job, does not cause nosebleeds, persistent swelling, or long term scarring complications, and is temporary.

Recovery

The basic recovery from a Surgical Nose Job typically takes about 2 weeks, and normal activities cannot be resumed until after this time. Bruising around the eyes, swelling and pain also typically resolve in about 2 weeks, but often require strong pain medication. Eyewear cannot be rested on the nose for 6 weeks, and the final results take up to a year to be visible. Whereas, with a non-Surgical Nose Job, most patients return to work on the same day as the procedure, the results are immediate, and there is no significant swelling or pain. However, for optimal results, it is also advisable to avoid heavy eyewear for 2 weeks after the procedure.

Cosmetic Results

When performed by Dr. Jugenburg, patients are generally very pleased with the results from their Surgical Nose Job. However, the results are always permanent and if a patient decides they do not like their outcome, revisions can be difficult. Whereas, with the non-surgical procedure, Dr. Jugenburg injects the Dermal Filler in small amounts and in precise locations, giving total control over the shape and contours created. The results are immediate and can last beyond a year depending on the type of filler that is used. Adjustments can also be made as the face changes over time or if a patient wishes to alter the outcome.

Your Injections

A Non-Surgical Nose Job takes approximately 15 minutes. You will first be given a small ice-pack to apply to your nose. This acts to numb the nerves in and around the tissues of the nose so that the treatment is as comfortable as possible. The cold also causes blood vessels to constrict, therefore significantly decreasing swelling and bruising after the injections. If necessary, Dr. Jugenburg can apply a topical anesthetic cream or even inject local anesthetic (freezing) in order to numb the treatment area and make your experience completely pain free.

During the procedure, Dr. Jugenburg injects small amounts of Dermal Filler directly into the nose tissue using a unique, fine needle that causes minimal trauma to the injection sites. After the treatment, you will stay in the clinic and apply an ice pack for a further 10 minutes. This is once again to help minimize bruising and swelling. However, you should expect to have some slight swelling, which usually resolves during the first 2 days after treatment. Most people can return to work immediately and full written aftercare instructions will be given to you.

Am I a good candidate for a non-Surgical Nose Job?

If you are in good general health, have a positive attitude and realistic expectations, you are most likely a good candidate for this procedure at our clinic.

The following are some common reasons why you may consider a non-Surgical Nose Job:

  • A low or flat nose bridge that requires more height and definition (typical in Asian and African American patients)
  • Bumps or irregularities on the nose that need smoothing and re-contouring

Who should not have a non-Surgical Nose Job?

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or have history of severe allergies, you should not have this treatment. People with certain connective tissue disorders may also be at a higher risk of side effects

Are there any side effects from using Dermal Fillers?

Side effects are rare, but can include redness, swelling, pain, itching, bruising and discoloration at the injection sites. These effects typically resolve spontaneously or within 1 to 2 days after treatment.

What can I expect on the day of my treatment?

Injections with Dermal Fillers can be performed with little to no downtime and minimal preparation. Dr. Jugenburg will prepare the area to be treated and take precautions to minimize your pain. The procedure should take less than 15 minutes, and you will be given instructions to follow once you leave the clinic.

Do injections in and around the nose hurt?

Injections in the nose can be uncomfortable; however, at our clinic we use a topical anesthetic cream that numbs the nose so that the needle prick cannot be felt. For almost all of our patients, this is sufficient and no other treatment is needed to counter pain. If necessary for patients who are particularly sensitive, we can inject a local anesthetic (or freezing) to completely numb the nose and surrounding areas and temporarily remove all feeling.

Will my nose be swollen after the treatment?

Following your procedure, you will have some swelling and a small risk of bruising; however, swelling is normally minimal and barely visible. Most patients find that their nose is improved almost instantly and may experience a few days of mild to moderate swelling. Dr. Jugenburg’s patients rarely experience any bruising or excessive swelling that temporarily makes it obvious they had a Nose Job done.

How long does the enhancement last?

The long-lasting nature of the Dermal Fillers that Dr. Jugenburg uses to perform a non-Surgical Nose Job mean that results may last up to a year, sometimes longer. The exact time varies between patients and the specific type and amount of filler that is used. Since Hyaluronic Acid is absorbed and completely broken down by the body over a period of months, retreatment will ultimately be required to maintain results.
